I installed a GRA (Gear Recommendation Assist) on my daughter's Golf V 1.4, manufactured in 2006. When enabling the function in control unit 16, I entered "2" as the second-to-last digit, as indicated in VCDS (GRA on the steering column without MFA). This was unsuccessful, and I always received the message "invalid value range"! Attempts with values 1, 3, and 4 also failed - the same error message appeared!
The engine control unit has accepted the registration, but that's not enough.
What can I do, or is it like the situation with car keys, where VW forces customers to go to a VW workshop, and that unlocking certain functions can only be done online with a connection from the VW dealer to the car?

PS: When trying to install the wire that connects to the water tank, which is necessary for older models, it turned out that the blue connector on the water tank is no longer present, so that can't be the problem!

Hello,

Please post the following files: Autoscan, CodingLog.CSV, and AdpLog.CSV.
With the given information, it's difficult to do much.

Best regards, Rainer.

Here's the car scan. I don't know where to find the two CSV files.
Could it be that I also need a different control unit for the GRA retrofit?

?

The other two files are located in the "Debug" folder of the VCDS installation directory.

The steering column control unit must be compatible with GRA, and not all of them are.

Hello,

You have changed the short coding of the steering column control unit (1K0 953 549 BB) from 2 to 21/32/22.

"There are two things wrong with this. First, the way the encoding works, like a bitmask where adding 10, 20, or 30 to the original value (2) to activate a single function, is unlikely. " See the popup that appears in VCDS when the mouse cursor is held over the coding input field.

See:

Page 23, Encoding/Coding.

Or also:
/viewtopic.php?t=27025&highlight=encoding

Secondly, the steering column control unit 1K0 953 549
BBhttps://shop.dieselschrauber.org/en/download/VCDS-Handbuch.pdf is most likely incorrect, as it does not support the cruise control function at all.
Without any guarantee, index funds BF or BN might work.

Best regards, Rainer.
