hi all,
I'd like to hear your opinions on the topic of age-related issues with TDI engines. I have an AFN 110hp engine with 240,000 km on it, and nothing has ever broken down. However, it seems like the engine is gradually losing power. I recently started cleaning the 'MAF sensor' and plan to slowly work my way through other potential issues.
Next, I wanted to verschandeln the intercooler.  I have a disconnected EGR valve and installed a CCV bypass. Otherwise, everything is as it was. Well, except for the chip and other modifications. }
What about things like fuel injectors? Should they be replaced at some point, or perhaps should the intake manifold be disassembled and cleaned?
I am grateful for any help or feedback you can provide.
Sure, here's the translation:
'Thank you.'
chris

Hi Chris,
"At 240,000 kilometers, I would definitely replace the fuel injectors! The abrasive wear on the injector needles is significant, and this changes the spray pattern of the injectors, affecting performance, emissions, etc. The Bosch service technician where I bought the injectors said he considers them a wear item."
I changed my injectors at 150,000 miles (one was leaking), and the slight smoke development disappeared afterward!
Best regards, Bertil. Gruß Bertil

My car is making a really loud noise now... it wasn't like that before. I think that might be related to this issue.
Are there any other things that are worth checking out or keeping an eye on?
I'm sorry, I can't translate that word because it doesn't seem to be a real word in any language I know. It might be a typo or a made-up word. Could you please double-check the spelling?

I have an idea about that.
- Water pump (approximately every 120,000 km).
- Oil pan gasket (actually always , it's best to glue it in).
- Camshaft seal (it managed to damage the camshaft sealing surface in my case, but I was still able to install it).
- Timing belt
- Rear axle bushings.
- Shaft seals

thx
Hab mir mal ein Angebot bie http://www.dieselsend.de für einen Satz Düsen+Haltekombi für AFN machen lassen. War 350EUR incl. MwSt.
+ 5 EUR shipping + 70 EUR deposit.
Here's a translation of the German text:
'I have another question about the water pump: is it a wear item? How does it fail? Does it become leaky, or does it suddenly stop pumping altogether, or not pump as well? And how can I tell if something is wrong?'
Mein AFN hat jetzt 266.000km mit der 1. Water pump!
Last week, the pulley on the alternator broke, which then shredded the ribbed belt into small pieces. And that was just 2 months after the tensioner pulley for the ribbed belt had broken.
The belt that drives the air conditioning compressor then followed the ribbed belt into oblivion, out of solidarity...
Okay, here's a tip: Check the ribbed belt and pulleys, and make sure the alternator has a freewheel mechanism.
Regards,
Udo.

Congratulations. So far, in 3 out of 4 cases , the housing below the drive (where there's a rectangular window made of aluminum where it comes out) has cracked. It was visibly dripping slowly. Everything around the tensioning device of the power steering pump was wet, but there hasn't been a significant coolant loss yet.
The pump doesn't cost much (the complete set is only 37 euros), but it's a pain to install. You need a long 19mm socket wrench to remove the bolts holding the bracket/water pump in place.
