Hi,
VW now offers a retrofit kit to prevent damage to the mass airflow sensor.
TN 1J0-198-614
Cost: approximately 35 EUR.
MKB: AGR, AHF, ALH, AJM, AUY, ATD, ARL, ASV, ASZ, AQM, AXR
According to reports, it's a grid that goes inside the air filter housing and is intended to catch any water that might accumulate. I haven't seen it myself yet.
It's also being traded on eBay.

Hello,
Yesterday, the dowsing rod expert came to my place. He measured and found that my Golf was always parked on a water vein. Since I started parking elsewhere and have a copper grid under the car, the mass airflow sensor (MAF) feels much better.
Have you also designed the passenger compartment and engine compartment according to Feng Shui and Vastu principles? My mass airflow sensor is now measuring with more joy and accuracy!
Okay, just kidding:
As long as there's no picture and a scientifically sound, logical explanation as to why this should help, I don't trust it.
(For example, my PiBu air filter has survived three washes with the strongest cleaner and water rinsing, has almost 220,000 miles on it, and breathes through an oily fabric air filter.)

While I can't access eBay from here, I can tell you that the new LMMs (likely referring to a specific type of sensor) all have a slanted deflector grid in front of the measuring tube.
Off-Topic:
btw: a colleague also once hired a diviner to locate a well or drainage ditch.
When I came to visit, he had just finished [something] and then explained everything to me again.
He forced the whip into my hand and told me how to hold it.
krassomat: that thing actually moved, and I could hardly counteract it consciously. And my colleague said that the dowsing rod was also triggered at exactly the same spot .
My colleague, who is always skeptical, also tried it, and he even deliberately worked against the fin. It only slightly reduced the amount of fin movement.
Unconscious effects are ruled out because I didn't know where the diviner had previously found something. And even if you play 'blind cow,' running around with a blindfold on and turning randomly, it always points to the same spot in the field.
Something's there...
A little research revealed that the dowser has a success rate of over 90%.
So, always be careful with careless statements .

Some people have recently passed away.
It also makes me a little suspicious that the eBay auction doesn't include a picture. You could definitely make something like that yourself and not buy it for 30 euros...

Okay, 'eccentric deflector grille,' it sounds like it could be well-founded and justifiable, I'll admit that.
But my ignorant mindset and my half-knowledge/half-logic often tell me, 'What's the point of doing that?'
Perhaps I am sometimes a bit presumptuous and biased, and I should work on myself.
However, it has been proven that dowsers operate based on chance.
Scientific studies have shown this. (However, the validity of any test framework is always open to question). It is also likely a fact that there are things and forces at play that our conventional wisdom cannot, or does not want to, comprehend.
Conclusion: When you're constantly being deceived by advertising and industry, and everyone is always looking at your wallet, you become cautious. (Example: 'friendly' VAG 'partners').
No tire pressure additive, V-Power diesel, X-cross toothbrush with ball head, 3-phase detergent tablets, etc., etc., etc.
and very likely no retrofit kit that is gentle on the LMM (lambda monitoring module).

That would probably be more of an LMM killer.
The wire mesh collects moisture until it is suddenly ripped away by the airflow.
But it has been proven that dowsers operate according to chance.
'It's all about how you do it.' 'Real' dowser, in any case, find more water than geological survey teams with all their investigations. This has also been proven.
Just because something cannot be scientifically proven doesn't mean it can't have an effect. Any serious scientist who isn't blindly ignoring the world around them will tell you that.

Well, that's already quite scientific!
While it's designed for larger systems, the principle is the same.

Take a look at the DOCUMENTATION; there's a rough diagram there. It looks like the rejection grid covers the entire surface of the air filter insert.
For vehicles with xenon headlights, there is even a special set with the index "A" at the end.
The parts kit is recommended to address "performance loss in wet conditions" and consists of a modified air filter lower housing, a water-repellent grid, an air filter element, and a modified throttle body from the raw air intake.
Including the shipping costs, the set offered on eBay is only 1 euro cheaper than the one offered by the retailer. Gruß

@ Julian
I haven't had a stomach ulcer yet, and I wouldn't want to get involved with blood relatives, but the rest would fit .
I already have a VP diesel engine, so that part isn't even offered for it.
I always assumed that moisture was not the primary cause of the problem with the mass airflow sensor.
The father's CDI (presumably referring to a car's ignition system) actually performs much better in humid conditions.
If there's already a height offset in the air filter housing, an air filter, and some corners and edges where the airflow breaks, plus a 'base' grid in front of the mass airflow sensor, what else do I need to install?
'Other 'experts' even install these mushroom-shaped air filters because they find the airflow resistance too high, without considering that the air in the engine compartment has the same effect as a coolant heater?'
I will soon be as clever as I was before .

They also don't mind that the LMM (Laminar Mass Flow Meter) requires a defined inlet and outlet area for the airflow to be measured correctly.
'Such a fungus can lead to the formation of air pockets. In this case, you either have too much air in the fuel mixture (which is bad for gasoline engines, causing them to stall) or too little (which is also bad).'
In a naturally aspirated engine, modifying the intake manifold will disrupt the engine's tuning and result in poorer air intake.
HFM (High-Frequency Modules) are susceptible to oil and water; that's no secret. That's why there are installation guidelines for them. Whether VAG (Volkswagen Group) adheres to them is another matter.
The latest generation of HFM features a modified sensor and comes standard with protective grilles.
