Hello,
How can I seal this flexible joint? It consists of two pipes that are pushed together with accordion bellows and have a steel mesh covering them. It's movable (presumably it's supposed to be), and there's about 1-2 cm of play.
The steel mesh is slightly damaged at the top. Would it be enough to apply sealant around it and possibly wrap it with aluminum foil or something similar?
You would have to weld the pipes together, right?
It's a Volkswagen Passat TDI 1.9L Variant (estate/wagon) manufactured in 2002.
Thank you, Andy.

Don't try to seal it (it won't last anyway), replace it!

Okay, so how can I do this? It seems like it comes from the turbocharger and then continues on. Where it's connected with the steel mesh, there's probably a connector installed.

Is this part available for purchase online? Does anyone have a part number?

Thank you.

Okay, so the flexible pipe will stay in place for now and will be replaced later if it actually leaks.

The hose connecting the turbo to the intercooler was replaced, but it immediately came loose on the first drive – apparently, the spring/clamp wasn't properly secured.

Okay, let's hope it stays that way...

Thank you!
