It's about my wife's Polo 6N1 with 312,000 kilometers. The gearbox code is DKE, which means it has a cable-operated gear shift.
The problem only occurs after driving for a certain distance, i.e., when the transmission is warm. Reverse gear can only be engaged with a grinding noise, as if the clutch isn't fully disengaging.
Otherwise, the gears can be shifted without any problems.
What could be the cause, or what can be tried to rule out certain possibilities? Or is a transmission defect imminent?
My ideas are to replace the clutch cable and change the gearbox oil. At approximately 200,000 kilometers, I replaced the clutch including the release bearing.
Viele Grüße
Andreas

Could the clutch be disengaging too late because the clutch cable has stretched or become "elastic" (due to broken cable strands)? Is there possibly a bearing (needle bearing) for centering the transmission input shaft on the engine side that could be defective?
