Hello Herbert,
These were genuine steering movements, as I wanted to know immediately before recording whether a plausible value was present.
Okay, so yes, the signal is plausible throughout the entire time.
I could, however, just install a new LWS for safety and try again, although I'm almost certain it's not related.

Hi,
This is like searching for a needle in a haystack.
It is clear that VW would use a steering gear, Generation 3, as a replacement part, and that some enthusiasts have also reported successful conversions using used steering gears.
Does it lie in an incomplete renovation, a faulty steering gear, the fact that it doesn't fit the vehicle or engine, or that it needs to be adapted...?
The steering gear components from DRI seem to be reconditioned parts, not new parts.
Did you perhaps no longer have the old steering gear (as a replacement part from DRI) anymore? Otherwise, dismantling would at least eliminate the possibility of an error in the braking system electronics or the steering angle sensor.

So, the current situation is that I didn't have much time this week, so I just accepted the error.
I will start measuring the CAN bus again today, specifically to check if the CAN High and CAN Low signal levels are correct, as well as the continuity between the individual control units.
Currently, the golf engine has been further broken down, as it is now only running on 3 cylinders. Currently, the car isn't bringing me luck.
Regarding the current engine fault, I will create a separate thread with pictures and a description, which I am sure will be helpful to someone.
Then I will spend the rest of the day troubleshooting the steering mechanism until the engine starts again tomorrow

If the signal levels were not consistent, it would not be possible to diagnose the corresponding control unit.

My approach was to go back to the beginning, perhaps I missed something - but I re-checked the wiring at the steering and on the T6z (i.e., the 6-pin connector near the left-side headlights) and everything seems to be okay there.
The next step was to re-examine all the mass points, check them, and verschandeln them – I already know that if any of them were rotten, for example, the steering would cause an error or not be accessible – but better safe than sorry.
Therefore, I can confirm that the wiring to the new steering control unit is in order, both in terms of power supply and the bus (pin assignment, continuity, and end resistance).
Most likely, it will be a minor issue that I overlook
Now I'm going to focus on the wiring from the ABS side and report back...

Hi,
Have you, besides disabling the internal G85 channel, also disabled/checked the other steering control channels?
The Gen3 steering system has "great" new features. How does it handle ESP and cross-wind compensation, etc.?
Something must be misconfigured, which your ESP doesn't support.
When recommending the steering angle (DSR), there are also several active options depending on the installed ESP.

Hello Malte,
Thank you for your input - I have checked everything multiple times, both with VCDS and O-D-I-S via GFS, according to the specified checklist.
My last idea is to flash the STG44 steering mechanism. Need to check if there's still a flash file here.
