The components may be leaking. Re-sealing required: €300 plus VAT plus valve cover.

A mechanic from Seat suggested it might be the tandem pump, which would cost around 400 euros.
I think it's excessive to do all of that for troubleshooting.
It could also be the cylinder head, piston rings, or oil scraper rings.
So, a replacement engine? At 425,000 km? Probably not.
So, you're suggesting that your car, at this age, is now only "Acceptable for professional hobbyists with their own automotive workshop"?

Tonight, I ordered a new one.

I hope that it will be at least as reliable and exactly as good.
It's fun to think about.
I fear that the claim of being "at least as reliable" will remain wishful thinking. Because the newer the products, the more precisely the industry can generally incorporate "planned obsolescence" (if unknown: please Google it) into their design. icon_sad.gif

Hello Ulf,

It depends. If it were possible to reliably locate the error and have it repaired for a reasonable price, then yes.
Paying to have expensive parts replaced for troubleshooting, with no guarantee of improvement, NO.
I need a reliable car because I have to drive 100 kilometers every day.
Sometimes I take my vehicle to a mechanic because I don't have my own workshop, and sometimes because I lack the experience (or the desire) to do it myself. It just depends.

My son and I might try something else. He expressed interest yesterday, and if a repair is possible, he could still remain part of the family... maybe.

Debugging:
I would like to first explore the potential causes of the oil increase. Once those are identified, I believe that the other symptoms should also disappear. I was hoping to get some ideas and suggestions from here.
Normally, I start with the most affordable option.
I've already searched the internet extensively to see if anyone else with a similar engine has experienced a similar problem, but I haven't found anything.
The next step might be to reseal the PD elements.
Maybe look for a used tandem pump.
There are ASZ models for sale in the area, some with high mileage and others with low mileage, all priced at €1800.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet; I need to check some more prices first.
or rather, my son.
As I mentioned before, I would appreciate any tips or suggestions.
Could I use VAG-Com to pinpoint the source of the error?

.
The industry denies it. But I don't believe it either icon_sad.gif.
I hope that my new Ibiza is "internally" just as oversized as the old one. After all, even the engine with 105 kW can power buses. icon_smile.gif

Best regards,
Jörg

A 2-liter TDI?
Has the oil pump drive problem been resolved in those models yet (the wear-prone hexagonal shaft... if it becomes rounded enough, the oil flow collapses)?

Yes, it's a 2-liter TDI. The oil pump problem is new to me. I hope that issue has been resolved. icon_confused.gif
