It only makes sense to take a single measurement against ground, but a multimeter becomes useless as soon as data is flowing.

Hello,
Thanks, Rainer! I can read the gateway. It was contact 1 (permanent plus) on the gateway. I first connected a cable to the battery, and suddenly, I could see something on the display.
I've been searching and found out that pin 1 of the gateway should be powered by terminal 30. I've checked all the fuses again, and none of them are broken or burnt. Surely there are still other things connected to terminal 30, right?
Can anyone give me a tip on where I should look next?
Best regards and many thanks,
Carsten.

Hi.
How is the cigarette lighter/12V socket connected, and is it not connected via terminal 30?
Best regards, Rainer.

Hey,
You probably mean that if the cigarette lighter has a different constant power connection, I should simply run a new cable to the gateway. Correct?
I've read a lot about terminal 30. Does anyone have a simple explanation of what this terminal is for? Is that just a fuse?
Best regards,
Carsten.

Hi,
Please check the wiring diagram for your car; terminal 30 is connected to constant positive voltage.
Sure, here's the translation:
"LG" translates to "Best regards" or "Sincerely" in English.

Hi Rainer,
"I would like to do that. But when I tried to register with Erwin (siehe Fehlerdatenbank) Skoda, I was immediately blocked. And I received a notification that the service will no longer be available to private individuals after December 18, 2025." That doesn't bode well for us private hobbyists.
Well, Volkswagen is just continuing to dig its own grave. The Audi I'm currently driving will probably be my last one.
What can I do now? Does anyone know of a company that can help me?
Best regards,
Carsten.

Hey,
The cigarette lighter is also connected to terminal 30a. I finally got the wiring diagrams.
Does this help us?
Best regards,
Carsten.

If the cigarette lighter stops working, I would investigate where terminal 30 connects to in the fuse box, and then either trace the (cable) problem to the gateway or run a cable from the next terminal 30 that is powered to the connector on the gateway.
Terminal 30 is also located on the diagnostic connector, so it should be present there.

Hello,
The Octavia is running again!!!
Incredible. I've learned so much!! Thank you to everyone who helped, and especially to Rainer!
My last mistake was that I had expanded too much and also the fuse box insert. Well, that's very central, I realized. So, I put that in and connected a permanent positive cable to pin 1 of the gateway. And suddenly, many errors disappeared!! I turned the key, and the Octavia started running!! Awesome!!
After almost a year of being on standby, there's still a lot to do!
I have one more question. According to the wiring diagram, the cable comes from fuse 13 in the ebox. I actually want to run a new cable from there. To do that, I need to access the ebox. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a video showing how to disassemble it. Does anyone have any tips?
Best regards,
Carsten.

Hey,
Question withdrawn!
It's very easy to access the ebox. You just need to bend back a few small plastic tabs. And that's how you remove the insert.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find what I was looking for. And, unfortunately, I haven't found in the wiring diagram where the red/white cable from the gateway (pin 1) goes. But I will continue searching!
Best regards,
Carsten.
