Hello everyone.

I'm slowly starting to despair.
(Please don't use a search function; it would be better to just skip this and not provide an answer, as I have extensively used the search function over the past two days.)

Sure, please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.

"On my Golf (ALH), I'm experiencing a problem where the reset isn't being accepted."
I'm setting channel 2 to 0.
Channel 43 is getting its 50.
Channel 44 finally got its 720.
Channel 45 got its 4.
(The individual values will be saved.)
Channel 40 has a 0.
Channel 41 has a 0.
(I have made no changes here.)

Okay, ignition off, reset button pressed, and ignition on -> "Service now".

I've tried it 3-4 times, but nothing changes.

Is a 00s ALH instrument cluster a 1J0920825B?

I'm not sure, but I think I might have manually reset the service indicator last year. Could that be related? (Could it be that I need to tell the control unit again that it has a service due?)
Am I too stupid, or what am I doing wrong?
A step-by-step guide, something like this:
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.
It certainly wouldn't be wrong to preserve it for posterity.

"Thank you."

I hope you closed the controller before turning off the power, otherwise your changes will be lost. That would explain why you're not able to save.

You do that using channel 45 -> 00004.

At first glance, nothing!
Your AI might have a bug. I've seen quite a few fail. However, these issues often only become apparent during maintenance or when the system is taken offline.

"For testing purposes, try setting channel 45 to 00001 (no LL) and see what your service display does. Then, revert it back to 00004."

Okay, here's the procedure:

1) Computers
2) Cables plugged in.
3) Turn on the ignition.
4) Connect VAG-Com.
-> ......

5) Channel 2: set to 00000 (was at 0). First, test, then save.
6) Channel 43 set to 50 (was previously at 15); first test, then save.
7) Channel 44 set to 720 (was previously at 365), then test and save.
8.) Channel 45 on 4 (it strangely displayed the number 4) - first test it, then save.
9) VAG-Com is discontinued.
10) Ignition off.
11) Cable disconnected.
12) Reset button held down.
13) Turn on the ignition.
14) "Service now"

Am I doing something wrong?
Actually, nothing at all!
I somehow have the feeling that it will eventually regulate itself and return to a fixed interval.

I'll leave him alone for a few minutes, then I'll start the process and afterwards, I'll check the values displayed on channels 43-45.
If the values change again immediately, can I assume that the AI is defective?

"The values are still okay, but when I press the reset button and then turn on the ignition, it displays 'Service now'."
I probably accidentally switched back to the fixed interval setting while experimenting with the reset button, because at one point I had the "default values" (15000/365/1) again.

Shouldn't he immediately switch to the minimum required distance?

What is the purpose of that?

To see if he reset the ad.
(But you said that only the A3 has it) <- probably mixed up this fact!

Is there a way for me to check if all of this is accurate and to ensure the car isn't being driven too much between service intervals?
Will he even get in touch with me in time, or will the engine die before then because the oil has been in there for too long?

No.

You have to trust your AI.

Remove point 12 from your description, and it will work.

But let's talk about something else:
Are you doing the first oil change for the LL? If not, you should be aware that the G4 will not display anything after the oil change.
Does your car even have LL?

No, it's the third icon_biggrin.gif, but I haven't really paid attention to that before. Just made it and it's done.
But after driving over 100,000 kilometers, you tend to be more careful.
Bertil wrote:

According to the equipment code (QG1), it has the extended maintenance interval feature, and according to the sticker from the factory, it also has it. icon_wink.gif

Thank you very much for your help, nonetheless.

My one does the same thing - even with LL. If you don't turn the knob, nothing else happens. LL remains active. As Bertil already said, just skip this step when using LL intervals.

This procedure, including turning, usually resets the 15,000 km service interval. Turning it one way resets the OEL (Oil Electronic Life) indicator, and the other way resets the SERVICE indicator. However, this is also documented in the owner's manual. An LL (Long Life) maintenance event can only be reset using a diagnostic tool.

There's an AI system with a software error, and the controller needs to be shut down. Only then will the values be fully integrated.
I just remembered that these parts were only installed in Skoda vehicles. Under normal circumstances, there shouldn't be any of these parts left on the market. So, that's not the case here.
My mistake, I generalized it... Sorry icon_redface.gif.

Through this procedure, including turning, the 15,000 km service interval is usually reset. Turning in one direction resets OEL, while turning in the other direction resets SERVICE. However, this is also stated in the owner's manual. An LL (Long Life) maintenance event can only be reset via the diagnostic system.

Are you sure about the rotation?
"So, I can't really turn my knob. (If it's supposed to move, it's only by about 1/10 of a millimeter)."
However, I'm certain that I set the interval to the "default values" after adjusting it to 43-45, somehow.
I'm still trying to figure out whether this is related to the button or to starting the vehicle.

If you figure out what it was exactly, please let me know. I haven't come across anything like that before...
