Hello community.
I had my engine control unit (ECU) updated by a tuner, and now I'm getting this P1640 error code every time.
What could be the cause of this?
Is there anything I need to consider during installation, or do I need to use VCDS to program it?
Okay, here's the translation:

I will send you the Autoscan results tomorrow. I only have a Screenshot of the error at the moment.

You had your engine control unit (ECU) tuned, and now it's saying it's defective.
Do you remember anything?

No tuning, just a software update from version 0030 to 0050.

Hi,
Why don't you go back to the "tuner" who installed the software? His diagnosis seems wrong ("ECU defective, EEPROM error"). That's a pretty fundamental issue within the ECU. VW or Audi certainly wouldn't have caused that.

I naturally went to the tuner, and he said he didn't know what to do either, which certainly doesn't speak well for the quality.
Sure, I won't recommend that tuner to anyone else.
I was hoping to get some tips based on your experience so I could figure out how to proceed.

Play the original file. It's a shame if the EEPROM error persists because no meaningful changes were made during the flashing process. However, there are also knowledgeable tuners who can fix this.
I'm wondering why someone would have their engine control unit (ECU) updated after 300,000 km, whether it's with or without tuning.
What extremely urgent problem has existed for 300,000 km that would require paying for an update?

Why did I install the update?
The engine warning light came on in the display.
Get the error codes read.
- The signal was too rich, which affected the lambda sensor. I ordered a new lambda sensor, replaced it, and the error disappeared.
- P242F: Maximum load exceeded, unfortunately, the issue persisted.
Trying to start a manual regeneration using encoding II and the code 10016.
Unfortunately, the regeneration process always stops prematurely, and the new values are not saved.
The issue where the values were not being saved is known to occur with software version 0030, but has been resolved in version 0050 and later.
"The person I spoke with was very friendly, but they wanted to charge me a few hundred euros just to do a diagnostic test to see if an update was possible."
After that, I contacted a few tuners and asked if they could perform an update.
That's why I wanted to do the update.
If you can recommend a reputable tuner who can fix my engine control unit (ECU), I would be very grateful for a private message.

Stupid question... Maximum load exceeded... 310,000 km... Maybe I just assumed the filter might be full...

The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) was replaced last year, according to the invoice from the previous owner, and currently has an oil ash content of 0.04 [?].

As far as I know, the problem you're referring to has already been fixed in the 0030 model. It affected the 0010 model, and it wasn't possible to initiate the regeneration process on that model.
What year is it?
Find someone with a VCP (Vehicle Control Panel) and try flashing an SGO or FRF (firmware).
If the error still persists after that and it's still an EDC16, then it can be repaired using a BDM file. However, if it's already an EDC17, it becomes a bit more complicated.
So, you initially had a problem with the DPF, not the software, but now you have both.
