Hi,
I want to reset the learned values for the zero-quantity correction of the fuel injection system on my A4 8K, but I can't find a way to do it.
The attached images show the available adjustment channels and basic settings.
When selecting "Reset fuel injector x correction learning values" in the basic settings, I can start a routine that runs very quickly, but nothing changes, regardless of access permissions and engine condition.
Beneath the adaptation channel labeled "Learning values for shutter time correction," there is a very long sequence of hexadecimal values.

Hello Herbert,

Quote:

I actually expected this to perform the desired function.
I have never used it myself.

Here are some suggestions based on potentially humorous historical incidents involving other types of control devices:
- Was the connection properly closed and the control unit exited?
- Then, turn off the ignition/wait 5 seconds/turn on?
- Have you already tried this with the latest VCDS version (19.6.2)? Just to make sure that, for whatever reason, the desired action wasn't even triggered.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi Rainer,
I first tried it with version 18.9 and then with version 17.8 (here), and also with HEX-V2 and HEX-CAN. I'm going back to the older version because I remember having done this before, probably with a VCDS version 15.

So, if you keep the firmware of the interface up to date, it will always work with the latest VCDS version. icon_biggrin.gif
The question is, what can still be done with the old HEX-USB+CAN when it comes to new cars?

Best regards, Rainer.

I tried it with the current version from the store (19.6.1). The result remains unchanged.
I recorded the status messages during the reset process using the camera (it happens very quickly).
- Not working / No display.
- Running I End: System is OK.
- Completed. End: System is functioning correctly.

Hello Herbert,

I'm just asking... actually, the zero-set correction should happen automatically during the sliding operation.

What is the background of the question? Does the engine sound strange, or is there a problem with the idle speed control?

If you...

what you do is that, even after turning the ignition off and on again, the...

Sequence unchanged?

Could you please post a vehicle scan report?

Best regards, Rainer.

Moin Rainer,

Thank you icon_smile_thumb_up.gif,
I'm thinking about checking how the system reacts to changing an IMA value to a valid value this weekend. Ideally, this should trigger a reset of the values for the corresponding injector. According to RLF, only the IMA value of a new injector is entered.
Not all values are accepted. I tried making a change in one place, but it was rejected, and a new value "AAAAAAA" was saved. Then, the old value can be written again. In this process, the learning rates were not modified.

Hallo Herbert,

Hi,
to reset and relearn, I have...
- The IMA code from cylinder 4 was changed to the code from cylinder 1, and after a test drive, it was changed back to the original value. After the first change, the engine and ignition were turned off for approximately 30 minutes. Then, the learning values were reset to 0 and were re-entered during a drive of about 25 km. After changing it back, the ignition was left on for 5 minutes, then turned off and on again. The values were reset to 0 again, and then re-written during a drive of about 25 km. The order in which the correction values were entered during the trip was value 3, then value 2, and finally value 1.
For comparison, I repeated the procedure with cylinder 3. Setting the learning values to 0 worked, but there was no new data recorded after driving over 40 km. The value was reset to "2" only after the engine had been turned off overnight and after driving 100 kilometers.
Conclusion: New (permissible) IMA values are generally accepted when access authorization for adjustment is enabled. Setting the learning values to 0 works within minutes, and the ignition likely needs to cycle on and off during this process. The re-learning process may only be triggered by a longer period with the ignition off.

We still don't know what the adaptation channel "Resetting of learned values for closing time correction for injector x" is supposed to do, or how it works.
I tried it with both the German and English versions of VCDS 19.6.
In one of the previous versions, before 17.x, something was different.
