Hi,
I want to reset the learned values for the zero-quantity correction of the fuel injection system on my A4 8K, but I can't find a way to do it.
The attached images show the available customization options and basic settings.
When selecting "Reset fuel injector x correction learning values" in the basic settings, I can start a routine that runs very quickly, but nothing changes, regardless of access permissions and engine condition.
Beneath the adaptation channel labeled "Learning values for closing time correction," there is a very long sequence of hexadecimal values.
Herbert.

I actually expected this to perform the desired function.
I have never used it myself.
Based on some unusual behavior observed in the past with other control units, here are some suggestions:
- Connection closed properly and control unit exited?
- Then, turn off the ignition/wait 5 seconds/turn on?
- Have you already tried this with the latest VCDS version (19.6.2.), just to make sure that the specific action wasn't triggered for some reason?
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi Rainer,
I first tried it with versions 18.9 and then 17.8 (here), and also with HEX-V2 and HEX-CAN. I went back to the older version because I remember having done this before, probably with a version 15 of VCDS.

So, if you keep the firmware of the interface up to date, it will always work with the latest VCDS version.
The question is, what can still be done with the old HEX-USB+CAN when it comes to new cars...
Best regards, Rainer.

I tried it with the current version from the store (19.6.1), and the result is the same.
I recorded the status messages during the reset process using the camera (it happens very quickly).
- Not working / No display.
- Status: System OK.
- Completed. End: System is functioning correctly.

Hello Herbert,
I'm just asking... actually, the zero-value correction should happen automatically during the sliding operation.
What is the context of the question? Does the engine sound strange, or is there a problem with the idle speed control?
If you...

what you do, even after subsequently turning the ignition off and on, is still...
Quote: | | Below the adaptation channel "Learning values for closure time correction" is a very long sequence of hexadecimal values. |
Sequence unchanged?
Please post a vehicle scan report.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi Rainer,
In my last post in https://community.dieselschrauber.org/en/viewtopic.php?p=247129#247129, you can see that injector 4 is showing abnormal readings (which should be swapped out according to discussions here and elsewhere, although, to my knowledge, there is nothing official from VW about this). Before I do that, I want to confirm this observation and initialize new learning values.
There's a car scanner connected to this. It's a bit older, but it should be sufficient.

Thank you ,
I'm thinking about checking how the system reacts to changing an IMA value to a valid value on the weekend. Ideally, this should trigger a reset of the values for the corresponding injector. According to the RLF procedure, you only enter the IMA value for a new injector.
Not all values are accepted. I tried making a change in one place, but it was rejected, and a new value "AAAAAAA" was saved. Then, the old value could be written again. However, the learned values were not changed.

Hello Herbert,
Okay, your approach with the injector codes is also what I was advised to do. "AAAAAAA" means the entered injector code is invalid; it's just a placeholder to indicate that the value is incorrect.
I can also check the values I entered... please be patient!

Hi,
To reset and relearn, I have...
- The IMA code for cylinder 4 was changed to match that of cylinder 1, and then changed back to the original value after a test drive. After the initial change, the engine and ignition were turned off for approximately 30 minutes. Subsequently, the learning values were reset to 0 and were re-entered during a drive of approximately 25 km. After changing the code back, the ignition was left on for 5 minutes, then turned off and on again. The values were reset to 0 again, and then re-written during a drive of approximately 25 km. The order in which the correction values were re-entered during the drive was value 3, then value 2, and finally value 1.
For comparison, I repeated the process with cylinder 3. Setting the learning values to 0 worked, but there was no new entry after driving over 40 km. It wasn't until after turning off the ignition overnight and driving 100 km that value 2 was rewritten.
Conclusion: New (permissible) IMA values are generally accepted when access permission for adjustment is enabled. Setting the learning values to 0 works within minutes, and the ignition likely needs to cycle on and off. The re-learning process may only be triggered by a longer period of the ignition being off.

We still don't know what the adaptation channel "Resetting of learned values for closing time correction for injector x" is supposed to do, or how it works.
I tried it with both the German version 19.6 and the English version.
In one of the previous versions, before 17.x, something was different.
