At Wurst.

What kind of engine is it? (It CANNOT be a 1Z, AHU, or any other engine with a wastegate!)

Hey Micha (but you have a 1Z, right?)

What is an engine control unit (ECU)? Does it click when the engine is running? Placing your hand on it is the official VW test!

@ Diesel

The Audi 80 TDI was only available with the 1Z engine.
Let me see if this thing also makes a ticking sound while the engine is running. Unfortunately, the engine is so loud that it will be difficult to figure out.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

'MFG' is an abbreviation for 'Mit freundlichen Grüßen,' which means 'Sincerely' or 'Best regards' in English.

@martin:

It doesn't tick when the engine is idling (1000 RPM), but it does immediately when I turn on the ignition.
Putting your hand on it works great icon_lol.gif. You can definitely feel it in your hand... otherwise, the motor would be too loud to hear it.
'When I was installing the engine, I had a different engine control unit (ECU) available. However, it had SMD sockets (not the familiar EEPROM sockets), so I decided to choose a different ECU.'

@ Sausage

ok, you got a 1Z.

So, the valve regulates the applied boost pressure and "mixes" it with ambient pressure to reduce it.

When you turn off the engine, the N109 sensor doesn't provide a positive signal, and the control unit is also deactivated, meaning the N75 sensor is completely electrically inactive.

Because the turbo is also stationary, normal pressure is present at ALL three connections, so there can't be any mechanical issues. (This is different from the AFN engine, which has a vacuum reservoir, and in this case, the N75 valve is connected to it.)

A 1Z engine cannot rattle with the N75 valve after the engine is turned off.

A 1Z engine cannot rattle with the N75 valve after the engine is turned off !!!

That's why, as I mentioned, I suspect the AGR valve, regardless of whether it's receiving power or not, is causing the vacuum to drop due to the rattling sound.

@martin:

I also have a 1Z engine. Is this extreme ticking noise normal? And if the engine is idling, does the ticking stop? All the hoses are connected.

@ Micha

I couldn't find an "I" version!

Are you sure it's not ticking anymore when the engine is running?

If that's the case, it won't boost anymore. Then you'll either have very low boost pressure (0.6 bar), or excessively high boost pressure, depending on which position the valve gets stuck in.

Please translate the following text from German to English. Provide ONLY the translation, no explanations.

- Ignition on.
- Feeling the pulse with your hand.
- Just place your hand on it and start (or let it start).
- Is the ticking sound REALLY gone???

If necessary, connect the LEDs in parallel to see the "tickering_wollen" signal (i.e., the control signal).
If the indicator light is on and nothing is happening, the valve is probably broken.
