Basic adjustment, 7-speed DQ381 transmission

Hi there!

I wanted to use the instructions that Rainer provided us with (thank you for that!) to perform a basic adjustment of my DQ381 transmission.

However, the instructions only describe the procedure for transverse motors using older control units. What is the correct procedure when using newer control units?

In your specific case, you should have it done professionally, unless you are a workshop or repair shop yourselves.

The vehicle was manufactured in April 2019 and is still covered by the manufacturer's warranty, with a documented extended warranty for an additional 3 years.

Many customers who own all-wheel drive vehicles complain about the gear changes.

There is a customer solution for the DQ381.

In some transmissions, the sliding bearings/shift levers for either the 6th gear or reverse gear have broken. Even a basic adjustment won't fix this issue.

You can of course delete the adaptation values/learning values and perform a basic calibration using the tester, but keep in mind that in the event of a warranty claim, the stored adaptation values may not match the mileage.
( The information comes from the man with ID DQ381 from Ingolstadt.)

This becomes relevant when Ingolstadt wants to access data from the transmission control unit for fault analysis. Currently, they are trying to determine why so many transmission failures are occurring.


Customer solution: Delete the adaptation values or have a software update installed to avoid any doubts in case of a warranty claim.

First of all, thank you for the update!

I would be willing to try it myself, but I wonder if Volkswagen knows what kind of device was used to reset the DSG transmission. If they do, then I'll probably have it done at the next service appointment.

But your entry is excellent; if someone has a car that's outside of its warranty period, they can definitely give it a try.

I will report if anything happens!
